How Are You Growing Your Personal Leadership?

Cut through the niceties. We usually ask people “How are you?” or “How’s it going?” A better question is “How are you growing your personal leadership?

I’ll be honest. I’m not on top of my game every single day. That’s why I have three safety nets to keep me from staying down.

  1. I keep a journal and write in it six out of seven days a week. I force myself to think, tell the truth, and to focus on growth.
  2. I practice mindfulness. Several years ago I upped my mindfulness game by creating an expanded mindfulness framework. You can read more about it in my book A Guide to Mindfulness Meditation (and steal it for your own use!)
  3. Most importantly, I have another human who holds me accountable and asks me the hard questions frequently.
One of the best ways to grow your personal leadership is to have a dedicated partner ask you probing questions and help you gain some self-awareness.
